Frustration for Chirk despite Swarbrick and Conner heroics

Despite a superb all-round display from Andrew Swarbrick, hosts Chirk were denied a likely victory by the weather.
Put into bat, the North Wales team were bowled out for a very modest 117 in 36.3 overs, Swarbrick dominating with 52 off just 44 balls, including seven fours and three sixes.
Nick Flack added 20, while for Frankton, Grant McKay grabbed 5-28 and Stuart Lammie 3-3.
In reply, the visitors plummeted to 16-6 before opener Scott Hale (21 no) and skipper McKay (5 no) gave them hope before the heavens opened with the total on 36-6.
Swarbrick was sensational with the ball, snapping up 5-17 off eight overs, four of his victims clean bowled.

Stephen Conner struck a club best 96 not out for a Chirk seconds outfit who made a good game of it at Column before weather abandoned play.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Chirk set 175-5 off a reduced 30 overs, Conner’s knock totally dominating the innings.
The hosts were 83-2 off just 12 overs when the elements intervened, Martin Wright collecting 2-33 for the visitors.
