Colwyn Bay have started the season in fine form

Colwyn Bay Cricket Ladies and Girls have made a double winning start to the 2022 season.

Last year’s runners-up have celebrated notable victories over Conwy Celts and Llandudno in their first two fixtures.

Bay won by 73 runs

Hannah Kennedy led the way with a brilliant all-round show, first scoring 24 for a Bay side which won the toss and chose to bat.

Samantha Sherrington made 11 for once out (net 6). There were 44 extras in a total of 112-3 (net 297).

For Celts, Llinos Hill picked up 2-10 from three overs.

In reply, Conwy lost 10 wickets for 74 runs, Laura Nicholls impressing with 25 for once out (net 20).

Hannah Kennedy completed a magnificent personal performance with 4-6 off three overs, Jane Smith and Amy Kennedy with a wicket each.

Carmel (3) 63-6 (net 233) Northop Hall (20) 132-2 (net 322)
Northop Hall won by 89 runs

Put into bat at Pen-y-Gelli, Carmel set 63-6 (net 233), Kathryn Rhymer 2-4 and Hester Evans-Ford 2-8 for the Hall, Sara Williams and Katheryn Sigsworth a wicket apiece.

Skipper Evans-Ford then posted 27 as the Hall responded with 132-2 (net 322) to wrap up an 89-run triumph.

Sarah Armstrong (16), Becky Hicks (14), Hollie Sigsworth (13) and Sara Williams (13) all added useful scores.

Colwyn Bay beat Conwy Celts last weekend

Colwyn Bay (20) 108-4 (Net 288) Llandudno (3) 86-3 (Net 271)
Bay won by 15 runs

Kerry Roberts top-scored with 26 as Colwyn Bay began their season with a fine win over local rivals Llandudno last week.

Samantha Sherrington notched 12 and Hannah Kennedy added 12 for once out (net 7) as the hosts recorded 108-4 off their 16 overs.

Llandudno wickets were shared between Jane Whittaker, Laura Lambe, Erin Deering and Amelia Andrew.

Tudno gave it a great go in reply, but fell short on 86-3.

Laura Lambe (16), Erin Deering (13) and Charlotte MacKinley (13) led the way in the run stakes for the visitors.

Amy Kennedy and Hannah Kennedy collected a wicket apiece for the Bay.
