Wynn Jones hits career best as Chirk’s cricketers make it four victories on the bounce

A grand opening partnership of 147 between Wynn Jones and Gareth Partridge put in-form Chirk well on the victory path.

Fellow high-flyers Bridgnorth 2nds were the victims of the North Wales team’s fourth successive win on Saturday.

Put into bat, the visitors were bowled out for 173 in 35.5 overs, David Laird with the best score of 69.

Billy Swarbrick led the Chirk bowling with 4-31, Nick Flack scooped 3-29 and Andrew Swarbrick 3-36.

The hosts’ openers then took centre stage. Jones finished on 92 not out and Partridge was out for 63 as Chirk eased to 174-1 in 33.2.

It was a first team career best for Jones.
