There is always something special about a village football club doing well.
And special is certainly the word to describe how the 2021-22 campaign went for Mynydd Isa FC.
The Flintshire marvels have achieved what can only be hailed as their most successful season ever as a grassroots community club since forming in 1984.
Its Under-12’s Mynydd Isa Dragons won the NEWFA Cup
The Under-19’s lifted the League Cup and reached the NEWFA Cup Final
Mynydd Isa Reserves scooped the North East Wales Football League Cup
And the Under-16’s, Mynydd Isa Dragons, won the Flintshire Youth League in their final season.
On top of this, Isa were awarded the Platinum accreditation from the FAW, which is the highest accolade a club can achieve in Wales.
As a club, Mynydd Isa has continued to grow and this year registered 380 players.
The girls section now has five age groups and both the ladies and vets teams have had great seasons.
The club has contributed to a new 3G pitch, a new stand and ground improvements, with the aim of reaching to a tier 3 standard.
Mynydd Isa’s annual football tournament is back on June 25 and 26, with 144 teams attending over the weekend.
