They’ve Rhyl-ly gone and done it – stand up for the 2021-22 TWINVINCIBLES!

Let’s all raise the roof for the TWINVINCIBLES of CPD Y Rhyl 1879.

Both 1879 men’s and women’s teams have won their respective league titles and gone through an entire season unbeaten in the process.

The combined records of the pair are: Played 44 Won 40 Drawn 4 Lost 0 Goals For 234 Goals Against 33.

It’s a phenomenal achievement and surely a very rare one that a club’s male and female sides both complete their league campaigns undefeated.

Even more remarkable is the fact this is the first season the club has competed since its formation in 2020.

Club top scorer as regards league goals is Candice Nellist for the ladies with 29, while Carl Lamb tops the men’s chart on 27 (he has netted 38 in all competitions and is club top senior net-finder overall).

Rhyl 1879 men ended their 2021-22 season in style on Thursday night with a 5-0 success at Glan Conwy.

Macauley Taylor, Tom Cain, Chris Bennett, Casey Faulkner and Leon Atkins shared the goals for the visitors at Cae Ffwt.

It was a 13th straight league win for Gareth Thomas’ side, who did the double over 12 North Wales Coast East Premier Division teams this term and only dropped points in both matches versus runners-up Llannefydd (2-2 and 1-1). They won the championship by a 15-point margin.

1879 now rise to the Tier 3 Ardal Northern League.

Already winners of the Cookson Cup, Rhyl’s men could still complete a treble as they are into the final of the NWCFA Intermediate Cup.

Three cheers for the ladies…..

Rhyl’s women clinched their title with a 10th consecutive league win when they defeated NFA 3-0 last Sunday.

Darren Wardle’s team, assisted by Joy Jamieson and Cassie Thomas, maintained a 100 percent record in 2022.

They now qualify for promotion to the Tier 2 Adran North League in 2022-23.

CPD Y Rhyl 1879’s annual presentation evening should be quite an event!
