Seven days after whipping Six Bells 7-0 away, FC Mally found it a much harder task at home to the Rhyl side in the return match.
Nonetheless, Andy Colville’s team chalked up another win to move into second place, two points behind table-toppers Royal Oak with two games in hand.
Mally can make sure of yet another title with two wins from their last three fixtures.
After a slow start at Maes Derw, with neither team creating anything, a brilliant run from Stevie Jones concluded with the ball reaching Benn Lundstram on the edge of the box.
Lundstram’s superb finish into the far corner made it 20 goals this season for the striker and put Mally 1-0 up after 27 minutes.
That soon became two when great play from Lee Ellis found Jamie Moorhouse, who put in a cracking delivery and Kyle Robb volleyed the ball home – half time 2-0.
The game was far from done and that became clear when Six Bells reduced the score to 2-1 through a Kallum Darroch goal.
Mally saw chances come and go and it looked set for a nervy finish until once again captain Moorhouse produced another big goal to continue his excellent season with a thumping header for 3-1.
John Blundell sealed the win just before the final whistle when he was put through and smashed his effort into the net.
Six Bells put up a good show and were hampered by the sending off of Aidan Bell.
League leaders the Oak maintained a two-point advantage at the summit with a hard-earned win against outside title contenders Y Clwb.
The hosts reported their goalscorers as Tom Jones, Gareth Hastie and Patrick Mehit.
