Trearddur Bay’s winning streak continues, defeat for Amlwch at Northop Hall

Winning is becoming a pleasant habit for Trearddur Bay.

After struggling to get a W on the board for much of the season, Chris Davies’ side have now celebrated three victories in their last four matches.

The Anglesey side are up to 10 points in their debut North Wales League season.

Lon Isallt is certainly the place where Bay function best, for as yet they have not collected a point on their travels.

Sunday saw Llanystumdwy make the long trip to Ynys Môn with just 10 players to take on the ever-improving islanders. Huge credit to Llan for fulfilling the fixture and travelling so far to do so.

Gail Paterson-Manning put Trearddur ahead as early as the 13th minute only for the away team to reply soon after through their top-scorer Grace Mpuku.

It remained 1-1 up to the interval.

The second half started with Bay looking more dangerous moving forward. Just four minutes in, captain Ashleigh Jones fired the hosts back in front.

Heidi Sanderson then added to the scoreline, making it 3-1 to the home side.

It was 4-1 in the 67th minute as Paterson-Manning scored after some good work from Sarah Flower.

The home side’s scoring was complete when substitute Rhian Griffiths netted after being on the pitch for only two minutes.

Mpuku pulled another one back for Llan in the 80th minute to make the final score 5-2 to Trearddur Bay.

Winning manager Chris Davies said: “It was a great win. Huge thanks to Llanystumdwy for making the journey over to us and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season.”

Northop Hall 2 (Chambers 24, Evans 45+3)

It has been a season of mixed fortunes for Northop Hall, but Sunday was definitely one of their good days as they defeated Amlwch at Rowley’s Drive.

Lauren Chambers put the hosts in front on 24 minutes and although Caitlin O’Neill levelled after 40, Chelsea Evans notched what turned out to be the winner in first half added time.

The Hall’s previous league game ended in an 11-4 home defeat at the hands of NFA, but four weeks on from that debacle, they bounced back admirably.

Amlwch, who were without top scorer Tesni Hughes, have seen their title hopes nosedive in recent weeks.

Sunday brought their third league defeat in a row and they will be keen to produce a more dynamic end to a season which for so long went like a dream.
