Llanystumdwy 2 (Mpuku 31 & 54)
Llangefni Town 2 (Cox 16 & 37)

Addrodiad/report: Tash Matthews

Cawsom y pleser o groesawu Llangefni i Barc Dwyfor heddiw wrth i’r tim merched chwarae. Roedd hi’n gêm dda i wylio gyda’r ddau dîm yn cystadlu’n dda a chreu cyfleoedd i sgorio.

Cychwynodd Llan yn dda iawn a’r cryfaf o’r ddau i gadw Llangefni yn hanner eu hunain, ond gyda cliriad dda o’r cefn, aeth dros y merched yn yr amddiffyn i adael blaenwr Cefni Jen Cox i orffen yn daclus. 1-0 i Cefni ar ol 10 munud.

Bu i hyn ddeffro Llan, rhoddodd y cyfle iddynt weithio’r bel yn daclus a’r holl gyfleoedd cafwyd eu creu i sgorio eu hunain wrth i Grace Mpuku sgorio ar ol 32 munud.

Cafodd y ddau ochr gyfleoedd i sgorio yn ystod weddill yr hanner, ond y cyfle gorau yn dod i Cefni, ar ol i ymosodwr Cox droi yn daclus, ein amddiffynwyr ni ddim yn barod amdani, i orffen yn daclus yn y gornel.

Daeth gôl y gem yn yr ail hanner wrth o cic o’r gornel ddod i’r bocs gan Tash Matthews, galluogodd i Grace Mpuku orffen gyda ergyd gwerth chweil gyda’i phen a gadael dim cyfle i gôl geidwad Cefni i ddod yn agos ati hi.

Diolch yn fawr am y gem Llangefni, a phob lwc am weddill y tymor.

A close game was had at Dwyfor Park where our ladies took on Llangefni. It was a well contested game with both teams creating chances.

Llan started the stronger of the two and were able to pin the Llangefni side in their own half, however, a great clearance which looped over our defence, left their striker Jen Cox to go through on goal. 1-0 to Cefni after 10 mins.

Llan’s confidence grew over the rest of the half and made the pressure pay off when Grace Mpuku went through to score – 1-1 after 32 mins.

Both sides had chances for the next few minutes, only for Llan’s defence to switch off and allow Cox to latch on to a loose ball to finish in the bottom corner with a great shot.

The goal of the game came in the second half as Tash Matthews crossed from a corner for Grace once again to finish with a powerful header which left the Cefni keeper with no chance.

Thank you for the game Llangefni, best of luck for the rest of the season.

Chris De Burgh’s No 1 song could have been written for these ladies

Llangefni Town Ladies travelled to fellow newcomers Llanystumdwy on Sunday looking to bounce back from a tough defeat last week.

Cefni started well with strike partners Jen Cox and Eleanora Coulson working well together, Coulson’s work rate complimenting Cox’s raw pace and power and it paid off in the 16th minute.

Marissa George played a lovely through ball for Cox to pounce and make it 1-0 to the visitors.

In the 31st minute Llanystumdwy responded well and equalised when Cara Hughes tried to hook clear a ball from the box which unfortunately hit Grace Mpuku in the stomach and bounced agonisingly over the line.

Six minutes later Llangefni restored their lead with an instinctive finish from Cox who turned her body well in the box to strike into the corner.

After the break Llanystumdwy came out fighting and on the 54th minute Mpuku fired an absolute bullet header into the net from a well delivered corner to bring them level again.

The rest of the second half saw both teams battle away and have chances but the game never really got flowing again and the score finished 2-2, a point each for the newcomers!

Manager Dan Gregg said: “Really enjoyed the first half today with some brilliant football played from both teams, I thought the match was competitive but played in such a good manner from both sides.

“Best header I’ve seen all season from Grace Mpuku, literally didn’t see the ball just heard the thump and the net ripple. She battled all game and deserved her player of match award! I’m happy with the response of my players today, the point takes us to 14 in our debut season with is incredible!”
