Dan Sands marked his first game in charge of Caerwys with a comfortable win over strugglers Bellevue.
Had it not been for visiting keeper Martyn John it would surely have been double figures, particularly in the first half after some top saves.
Sands gave debuts to two new signings; keeper Tom Hooson and centre back Matt Rees. He also gave a start to Jack Wakeman, who had been in good form for the Reserves prior to the Christmas break.
It was a good choice as Wakeman had too much pace for the visitors, scoring a hat-trick with goals on 6, 39 and 55 minutes, and saw a second half penalty saved.
Also on target were Ryan Anderson with a brace (8 & 48) plus Jack Cox (45) and Callum Pritchard (64).
The new boss was pleased with the overall team display and the clean sheet.
He said: “Yes it could have been a lot more, but the pitch was bobbly and made things difficult for both sides.”
Caerwys have six games in hand on some teams and face a difficult test away at Ruabon Rovers next week.
Michael Jones scored a first half hat-trick as Ruabon strengthened their grip on third place with a four-goal triumph at Railway.
