There has been a change in the management set-up at CPD Penrhyndeudraeth.

Iwan Williams, who had been manager of the tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier club since the start of the season, has returned to Chester FC, where he coached last term.

Williams has been replaced at Maes-y-Parc by Trystan Davies, who was previously assistant-manager.

Former Newcastle and Everton player, Steve Watson, is now in charge at the Deva Stadium and Williams becomes part of his management team.

On leaving Penrhyndeudraeth, who are sixth in the Premier Division entering 2022, Williams said: “I’d just like to place on record my thanks to everyone connected to the club. “From the players, to my backroom staff, the board and the supporters. It was a great feeling coming ‘home’ and being back among friends and family and assembling a squad capable of challenging.

“It’s just a shame we weren’t able to name a consistent squad on a weekly basis as we’d definitely be closer (to the top) than what we are at the moment. Nevertheless, everyone has been no shorter than brilliant, especially during my illness. The support I was shown will stay with me for a very long time and I’ll forever be grateful.

“I’ve promised to help (club stalwarts) Aled (Thomas) and Barry (Evans) in whatever capacity they need, still, as I’ve never seen two individuals work as hard as they do for a football club, so I feel especially indebted to continue to help in whichever way possible.”

Pro Licence holder Williams is also a former manager of Caernarfon Town and Llandudno.

Trystan Davies has already taken charge of the Penrhyndeudraeth team on a few occasions this season (6 games – 4 wins, 2 draws) and now steps up to become permanent manager.

Davies said: “Firstly, I would like to thank Iw Bach for his time at the club and for giving me the chance to join his management team and wish him all the best as he returns to Chester.

“I am extremely proud to now be given the chance to take over as manager and look forward to the future. We have a fantastic group of players here and there is no reason why we can’t continue our good start to the season and aim to be up there come the end of the season.

“I’m glad to announce that our senior players, Sach, Iw Tom, Liam Watson and Barry will be assisting me with coaching and background duties. Hopefully we will be back out there on the pitch and be able to welcome you all back to Maes Y Parc soon. COYC.”
