FOOTBALL PREVIEWS FOR SUNDAY, DECEMBER 12

GENERO ADRAN NORTH (2 pm)

Connah’s Quay Nomads v Bethel

Match of the day in Tier 2 Genero Adran North on Sunday sees the top two teams face each other.

Connah’s Quay Nomads and Bethel have met twice already this season – and it stands at one win apiece.

On October 10, Nomads won 3-0 at the San Seilo in the Adran Trophy, but seven days later it was Bethel who came out on top on penalties after a 2-2 draw at the same venue in the Welsh Cup.

League leaders Nomads have won five out of six and netted a massive 53 goals, while unbeaten Bethel have been no slouches in scoring 42 times in compiling four wins and a draw.

To be fair, both teams’ respective goal differences have benefited immensely from Denbigh Town’s early-season difficulties.

As for where the goals might come from on Sunday, Nomads’ Kirstie Kural and Francesca Scott have bagged 28 between them so far.

Bethel’s most prolific pairing are Ffion Wyn Williams and Fflur Williams, who have a combined total of 30 goals.

Other dangers exist on both sides, though, including Mari Gibbard in a Bethel shirt (12 goals) and Shannon Hobbs for the Nomads (9).

Two good defences who are also susceptible to letting in a few. We’re all set for a classic encounter…..

Airbus UK Broughton v Denbigh Town

Although Airbus have won just once in six league outings, they must be favourites to overcome a Denbigh outfit lying bottom after five heavy losses.

Llanfair United v CPD Pwllheli

Pwllheli will be out to repeat a 2-1 win achieved at Llanfair in the Genero Adran Trophy on October 31.

Having embarked on a tremendous eight-game winning run, Pwll have lost their last two, so will be keen to bounce back against a home side with just one league win under their belts.

Ten-goal top-scorer Lois Thomas is a player to watch for the visitors, while the ever-prolific Gemma Jones is beginning to hit form for Llanfair, having netted five in her last two games.

Wrexham v Llandudno

Interesting battle in store with Llandudno set to come up against their former star striker Rosie Hughes.

The 26-year-old Hughes is North Wales senior football’s top markswoman this season on 24 goals for Wrexham. In the past she was a consistent goal-getter for Tudno in the Welsh Premier League.

Undefeated Llandudno are third in the table, while Wrexham are fourth. The Reds, now under the managership of Steve Dale, have recorded four victories in six matches.

Wrexham’s under-19 team are going great guns, while the seniors are definitely heading in the right direction.

Llandudno have just signed Caitlyn Bibby-fry, who hails from Ellesmere Port but lives in Colwyn Bay.

She can play both as a goalkeeper and a striker, so could emerge into quite an asset for Sarah Colville’s squad.
