NORTH WALES WOMEN’S FOOTBALL LEAGUE (2 pm)

Amlwch Town v Welshpool Town

Perhaps the most heartwarming story of the season so far in the North Wales League has been the success of Amlwch Town.

In danger of disbanding during the summer following an exodus of players from the 2019-20 Division Two title-winning squad, Amlwch got together sufficient personnel together to remain viable and many thought that was enough of an achievement in itself.

But not only that, they have won six out of eight games, lie third in the table and are the sole team to take a point off powerhouses Rhyl 1879.

Amlwch have a decent chance of picking up more points when they welcome newcomers Welshpool to Lon Bach. The Powys side have just one win to their credit in seven games, but are always competitive.

CPDM Bangor 1876 v NFA

Leaders Bangor whipped NFA 6-2 in Rhyl at the start of the season, but Sunday’s return could be much closer.

Although heading the table with seven wins in eight starts, 1876 have been without key players on a regular basis in recent weeks, especially up front.

On Sunday, they might be tested at the back too, with NFA unbeaten in six in the league and boasting in-form strikers in Emily Jones and Sade Benjamin.

A big boost for NFA is the return of left-winger Ashleigh Mills after four months away on army duty. On best form, Ashleigh is one of the league’s finest.

Llangefni Town v Holywell

Llangefni will have fond memories of their previous clash with Holywell back in October.

The Anglesey girls won 5-2 that day, Sian Elin Morgan-Price scoring twice, including one absolute wonder goal.

Cefni have nine points and Holywell just the one, but the Wellwomen are improving all the time and possess the quality to get that elusive first win.

Llangefni have not played in four weeks and will be itching to get back out there.

CPD Y Rhyl 1879 v Northop Hall

Unbeaten Rhyl 1879 will be targeting a double over a Northop Hall side they beat 1-0 away on the opening day of the season.

Darren Wardle’s side have been in deadly form in the league – six wins and a draw in their seven games with 43 goals scored and just three conceded.

In their last three matches, 1879 have scored 30 goals and let in none!

Hall are more than capable of giving the Belle Vue side a good test. The Flintshire side sit fifth with four league wins to date.
