Meet the Player – All hail the real Marquis of Anglesey!

Llanfairpwll FC are flying at present and much of that is down to the goals of Jay Finter and our latest Meet the Player subject…..Mr Marquis Holland.
This extremely chirpy, cheery and downright eloquent character waxes lyrical like a young Colin Hawkins.
It is great to have royalty on the show today…..ladies and gentleman – Marquis Holland!

Most memorable game played in

It was the last match of the 16 season, Llanllyfni away. I was playing for Llannerchymedd at the time. I bagged a first half hat-trick and attempted a ridiculous bicycle kick. We were 5-0 up coming to the close of the match when one of their female fans ran on the pitch and started punching their striker. All hell broke loose and it ended up in a huge brawl between players and their own fans. The match was abandoned and my hat-trick never stood annoyingly. That one sticks with me 😂
Biggest highlight of football career so far
For me I’d say now – football’s never felt so good. I’m playing football with my mates, I get to play under my best mate in Gwyndaf Hughes. We’ve got the best fans in all of grassroots football – the Llanfair Ultras giving keepers havoc and being the 12th man to see the team over the line week in week out. And on top of all that we’re playing some great football and collecting results along the way.

Best goal scored
The Treetops edge of the box bicycle kick far right top corner, cleanest connection I’ve ever made with a ball 😂
Strengths to your game
I’d say work rate, high press, pace, aggression and length
Weaknesses
I’m a sucker for a sideline blonde
Best team-mate played alongside
Has to be the current gaffer Gwyndaf Hughes. I’d never usually admit it, but hats off to him. He just understood the game so well and made defending look easy, along with scoring countless free kicks from range. It used to wind me up in training, for a short centre half I’d never beat him in aerial battles, he was just so clever and annoying. Probably the best football brain I’ve seen a player with.

Hardest opponent faced
Phwoa! I mean Dyl Jones has always been the toughest centre half for me. Up until recent events at Cemaes he’s always managed to stop me scoring.
Biggest influence in football
I’d say Bro Goronwy FC. I’d watch them almost every week growing up, the likes of the GOAT Andy Wills, Andy Swindell, Sam Carter, Chris Hough. They were so good, always winning and every team hated them and they loved it. It was every kid in the village’s dream to play for that team growing up.
Funniest team-mate
Cian Glyn, he’s like a walking cartoon that boy 😂
Favourite away ground
Tan Parc
How do you feel Llanfairpwll have performed so far this season?

I think we’ve done better than anyone expected. Other than the shaky start in the first two matches everything’s been on the up, with Gwyndaf and Danny stepping in everything’s just clicked into place. We’ve had some great results so far and we intend to keep doing what we’re doing, improving as a team and I think we’ll go far.
Football ambitions
Win It all with Pwll and get my own Twr Marquis erected.
