North Wales Women’s League – NFA rise to third after fourth win in five matches

NFA made it four league wins in five. This is a team line-up from earlier in the season

North Wales Women’s Football League – Sunday, November 7

NFA 3 (Webster 3, Windsor 84, Benjamin 85)
Welshpool Town 1 (Davies 61)

Two late goals were needed by NFA to secure a fourth win in five starts which lifted them to third in the table.

With several regulars missing through injuries and family commitments, the hosts had to utilise players in different positions to which they were usually accustomed.

From the whistle, the Rhyl side took the game to Welshpool and opened the scoring in the third minute with a neatly placed shot that beat the keeper at the near post from Amy Webster.

Keeper Courtney Ingram was then injured after stretching for a ball and had to be replaced by scorer Webster between the sticks.

Chance after chance came and went for the hosts and at half time it remained 1-0.

Welshpool came out for the second half and pressed and were rewarded when NFA failed to clear from a corner and Lily Davies made it 1-1 on 61 minutes.

Once again the hosts controlled the game but failed to take their scoring opportunities until the 84th minute, when from a Rachel Lloyd corner, Georgia Spibey flicked the ball on and Stella Windsor rifled into the roof of the net.

After the restart the ball went out for a goal kick to Welshpool. The keeper took it and it was intercepted by Sade Benjamin, who was composed and finished to make the final score 3-1.

POM: Georgia Spibey and Amy Webster
