Menai Mavericks put up a good show

Week 3 of the Gwynedd and Anglesey Netball Winter League saw just Division One matches take place.

Division Two games got cancelled due to issues with the floor at the leisure centre. They are hopefully being played next Tuesday.

DIVISION ONE REPORTS – WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 20

Pwllheli Panthers 22-5 WaliB’s
(5-1; 11-3; 18-4; 22-5)

Although Pwllheli Panthers made it three straight wins, the final score does not do justice to the contribution WaliB’s made to this match.

WaliB’s produced some amazing defensive work with clear passing and came up with lovely interceptions.

Panthers led 11-3 at half time and scored the same number of goals in the last two quarters.

Penygroes Primos 29-18 Menai Mavericks
(8-8; 16-12; 22-15; 29-18)

Primos top the table on goal difference following a third victory in a row, but they had to battle hard to see off the Mavericks.

The teams were locked at 8-8 at the end of the opening quarter and by the midway point, Primos were just 16-12 in front.

In the second quarter, the Penygroes pulled away somewhat, winning the sessions 6-3 and 7-3.

Arfon Celts 37-15 Llangefni
(10-3; 19-7; 27-12; 37-15)

Arfon Celts recorded a good win

Although the Celts were always in control of this one the young Llangefni side put in their usual enthusiastic effort.

Dyffryn Ladies 28-21 Dolgellau
(7-4; 13-10; 21-14; 28-21)

A fine contest saw Dyffryn clinched the match in the second quarter, but Dolgellau were in it all the way through.

Trailing by just three at the halfway stage, Dol lost the third quarter 8-4, but admirably drew the last 7-7.
