Report: Llangefni Town

Llangefni made the short trip to 2019-20 North Wales Division Two champions Amlwch Town on Sunday for their first local derby of the season.

The experienced Amlwch were always going to be a tough test for the newcomers Llangefni, but still both sides went into the game with similar results so far.

Amlwch started the game with the wind and in horrendous conditions piled the pressure on Llangefni for the whole first half.

Cefni bravely held out for 29 minutes until Sara Furlong gave Amlwch the breakthrough.

One minute later Llangefni’s Tash Jones picked up her second yellow card after a harsh first yellow which was issued as she sat down injured with her back to the ref.

Amlwch then scored a further three through Cerys Gadd, Tesni Hughes and an own goal by Frankie Davies.

Llangefni fought on through the second half, never giving up with 10 players and the wind with them gave Amlwch more of a test in the second half.

Amlwch added another two through Furlong and one from Jo Bramwell.

In the 84th minute Amlwch were awarded a penalty and a brilliant Jess Marshall save to deny Gadd kept the final score 6-0 to the champions.
