North Wales Cricket League: Josh Williams takes nine for Marchwiel & Wrexham on great day for Division 1 and 2 leaders

DIVISION ONE

PONTBLYDDYN (13) 150-6 CONNAH’S QUAY (2) 76-10

With all other matches in Division One cancelled leaders Pontblyddyn took advantage by edging a step nearer the title thanks to a 74-run win over visitors Quay.

Pont are now 31 points clear at the pinnacle with just four rounds of matches remaining.

Put into bat, the hosts made 150-6 off a reduced 20 overs, Glenn Chambers top-scoring with 35, Mark Neath adding 25, Tom Dawson 23 and James Griffiths unbeaten on 21.

Rhys Stout scooped 2-28 and Callum Miller 2-43 for the Deesiders.

In reply, the Quay were dismissed for 76 in just 17.5 overs, Ryan Dunning 3-21, Rhys Jones 2-5, James Hughes 2-18 and Neath 2-26.

DIVISION TWO

MARCHWIEL & WREXHAM (14) 96-2 DENBIGH 2ND XI (1) 93-10

Josh Williams claimed a stunning nine-wicket haul as leaders Marchwiel and Wrexham prospered from their game being the only one played in Division Two.

Like Pontblyddyn in Division One, M & W benefited big style from the inactivity of rivals.

An emphatic 14-1 victory over Denbigh seconds put the hosts eight points clear at the top.

Invited to bat, the visitors were all out for 93 in 27.1 overs, opener Jon Eccles a fine 32, Peter Lloyd posting 22, while Josh Williams snared a remarkable 9-23 for the home team.

M & W then eased to 96-2 in just 14.2 overs, George Forgrave 32 and Michael Forgrave 23 not out.

DIVISION THREE

BRYMBO 2ND XI (15) 69-1 BUCKLEY 2ND XI (0) 67-10

In a game which lasted just a little more than 37 overs, Brymbo seconds took maximum points.

Bucks elected to bat, but were sent packing for just 67 in 21.5, Oliver Fellows 21, Holly Mayers 17 not out, Samuel Jones 17, while for the hosts, William Roberts snapped up 3-9, Terry Jones 2-2, Ioam Craven-Jones 2-23 and George Bourne 2-26.

The Steelmen then sped to 69-1 in 15.2, Bourne 33 no and Adam Smith 28.
