NORTH WALES COAST LEAGUE RESERVE DIVISION
Penmaenmawr Phoenix Reserves 4 (Harry Benjamin 1 & 14, Gavin Simpson 49, Hayden Tidswell 90+2)
Pwllheli Reserves 0
Phoenix made it two wins out of two and they could not have made a better start to Sunday’s clash, taking the lead after 55 seconds.
In a flying opening for the hosts, Cory Young played the ball back to Harri Lloyd Williams, who combined well with Gavin Simpson and Ben Hughes in midfield.
Simpson played a lovely ball up top to Young, who flicked on to Harry Benjamin, and he made no mistake, firing home from just inside the 18-yard box.
Pen continued to press the visitors high and were rewarded in the 14th minute when Troy Yates won the ball back on the halfway line, dribbled down the left and delivered a delightful ball to Benjamin, who put away number two.
The hosts were very unlucky in the 28th minute when after a scramble in the box the ball rebounded off Yates into the back of the net, only for experienced referee Dewi Morris to award Pwllheli a free kick and give the Pen man a yellow card for handball.
The message at half time was more of the same and Phoenix continued to dominate the play after the restart.
In the 49th minute Lloyd Williams set up Simpson, whose deflected shot from 25 yards wrong-footed the keeper and made it 3-0.
Pwllheli’s frustrations grew and Jordie Wood was sent off in the 88th minute for violent conduct.
Two minutes into added time, some brilliant wing play from substitute Grady Walding saw him find fellow replacement Hayden Tidswell, who calmly finished from two yards.
Winning manager Aaron Keating said: “Attitude was brilliant from all 16 lads today, clean sheets are hard to come by at this level but we defended from the front and looked solid.”
NORTH WALES COAST WEST LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
Bodorgan 4 (G Jones pen 2, S Jones 25, 31 & 89)
Bethesda Athletic 5 (Todd 36 & 65, Roberts OG 39, Hughes 74 & 90)
A nine-goal thriller saw Bethesda recover from 3-0 down to lead 4-3, concede a late equaliser and then bag a last-gasp winner.
Geraint Jones put Bodorgan ahead with a second-minute penalty before a Steven Jones double on 25 and 31 had the hosts three-up.
Joe Todd replied for Pesda on 36 minutes and a Joshua Roberts own goal before the break gave Mark Hughes’ side genuine hope.
After the break, Todd levelled the match on 65 and when Tomos Hughes made it 4-3 after 74, Athletic had completed a total turnaround.
The drama was not over, as Steven Jones completed his hat-trick to make it all-square in the 89th minute.
But up popped Tomos Hughes on 90 to clinch the points for Pesda.
