Goal getting ace Dean Redmond is 33 today

The way Dean Redmond has started the current campaign suggests he is in for another great season in front of goal for Menai Bridge Tigers.

The popular striker, who turns 33 today, has already netted four times in as many games and is forming a dynamic partnership up front with Callum Davidson, who is on five goals.

Bridge look capable of being one of the strongest teams in the new tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division.

Born on August 4, 1988, the forward affectionately known as Curly played for Beaumaris Town and Bethesda Athletic before making his mark with the Tigers.

He piled up 39 goals in 2018-19 as Menai were crowned Gwynedd League champions, but were refused promotion on a ground criteria issue.

The following season he joined Bodedern Athletic of the Welsh Alliance and finished the shortened campaign as top-scorer with 18 goals.

Dean rejoined Tigers for 2020-21, but the entire season was cancelled due to Covid 19.

Now he is firing on all cylinders as the Anglesey club look to make a major impact in the North Wales Coast West Premier.

Father-of-two Dean is a striker of the big, strong variety. His main strengths are holding the ball up and bringing players into the game, always working hard to regain possession and being a team player.

He admits he is more of an instinctive finisher rather than preferring having time to get off his shots.

Over the years Dean had been indebted to a number of managers for getting the best out of him.

He rates Andy Bell, Christopher O’Neal (Corby) and former Tigers boss Sean Brett as three of the very best.

Curly is an entertainer. His posts on Facebook are hilarious and he loves nothing more than a good banter exchange.

On the field, however, he is deadly serious. It is all about getting as many goals as possible to keep the Menai Bridge Tigers roaring.
