Holywell FC Girls and Ladies have made an exciting new signing on the eve of tonight’s friendly against Llysfaen Lionesses (7 pm kick-off, Daisy Pitch, Llysfaen, LL29 8SS).
Former Rhyl FC Ladies striker Zoe Stopford has joined the Wellwomen.
Zoe is down in history as the first player to score a goal for Rhyl and Prestatyn in the Women’s Welsh Premier League.
She grabbed the winner in a 1-0 victory at Aberystwyth on the opening day of the 2014-15 season.
The former Prestatyn Girls forward moved away to study at Edge Hill University but returned to Rhyl for the 2018-19 campaign and notched her share of goals.
Zoe was also part of the Prestatyn Girls team which reached the 2011-12 Welsh Cup semi-finals.
She also scored for Rhyl in their last victory over arch-rivals Llandudno – a 3-2 Welsh Premier League Cup success in 2018-19.
Holywell formed in 2019-20 and hope to build on their progress in the 2021-22 North Wales League season.
