Llandudno cricket girls chosen for Wales development squad

Two girls from Llandudno Cricket Club have been selected for the girls Welsh under 12 developmental squad for this season.

Carys Lambe and Jessica Price both play for the under 11 and under 13 hardball teams at The Oval.

Both girls are in year 6 and attend Ysgol San Sior School in Llandudno.

They are the only North Walians in the squad and coincidentally are also from the same class at the same school and the same club.

The girls attend training sessions and matches throughout the season. All the training and matches are held in South Wales, so it means a lot of travel for the girls and their families.

The pair are also part of the Cricket Wales North pathway developmental squad at under 11s.

Both have been playing cricket since they were 5 and 6 respectively. They are both products of the highly successful Llandudno CC junior set up that has produced many Welsh international cricketers over the last 25 years.

They are the first two girls to represent the club at national level since Hannah Thornton and Savanna Dickens. Hannah is still playing for the club’s second eleven and is now a level one qualified coach.

The club has three girls in their under 11 hardball team and 4 in their under 13 hardball team.

The girls are pictured above at a training session at The Oval, Llandudno and also wth Ysgol San Sior headmaster Mr Ian Jones outside the school.
