Football is not just about balls, goals and players.
The field it is played on, and the condition of it, is vital to the well-being of the game.
And this is where our friend the LAWNMOWER comes in.
Day-after-day, week-after-week, month-after-month, season-after-season, these unheralded grass cutters do their job.
Of course, they need a human to guide them, but all the same the good old lawnmower is a true unsung hero.
Recently, we featured Llangefni Town’s new mower named DENNIS LAWN.
Today, as part of a Grassroots North Wales series celebrating club grass-cutters, we feature Rhuddlan Town’s new mower CHARLIE.
Meet Charlie – Rhuddlan Town’s new lawnmower (possibly named after an angel from above?)
Club secretary and management team member Wayne Hughes declared: “The club are delighted to announce our newest addition.
“We thank Gareth Davies GWD who always does his best to cut our pitch for free when he’s got spare time and we hope he will continue to help us. We decided to buy our own ride on mower to cut around the outside of pitch to help keep everything nice and tidy.
“Our new addition is Charlie the ride on mower 😀
“Thank you to Morris garden machinery of Rhuddlan for a great deal.”
Clubs, please send us photos of your mowers and the volunteers who guide them over the green, green grass of home.
Hoping that we come across a mower called Patrick (Patrick Mower, star of 1970’s cop dramas and lately Rodney Blackstock from Emmerdale).
All hail the Magnificent Mower!
