Early transfers on the North Wales football scene – many more to follow

Aaron Griffiths (light blue) is a great new capture for Penrhyndeudraeth

June 9 sees the opening of the North Wales football transfer window.

Some players have already committed to new clubs. Here are just four examples….

Aaron Griffiths (to Penrhyndeudraeth)

Proven goalscorer is the latest addition to Penrhyndeudraeth’s squad.

Penrhyn manager Iwan Williams said: “I’m happy to announce that Aaron Griffiths (Mans) has agreed to join us for the forthcoming season. I’ve known Mans a while, having worked with him at Caernarfon.

“He’s left footed, has good quality and is such a great lad. He’s fit and eager and also gives us height in crucial areas. He’s already shown his quality with set pieces in our game on the weekend so I believe he’ll be a real asset to our football club.”

Tomos Owen (to Bodedern Athletic)

This tall and commanding central defender is a great capture for the Anglesey side.

Bodedern manager Ricky Williams said: “I first came across Tom five years ago when we played Waunfawr in the Gwynedd League and I thought he was an outstanding player.

“I’ve chased his signature ever since but work commitments have stopped the move till now. He’s big, powerful, great in the air and has the pace needed.

“He can also play which is what we’ll be looking to do this season. I have no doubts that he’ll be a great addition to our team.”

Jac Thomas (Bro Goronwy to Amlwch Town)

A tremendous addition to Amlwch Town strike force for the 2021-22 season, Thomas has already looked on fire in pre-season friendlies.

With more than 100 goals netted over five seasons for recently disbanded Bro Goronwy. the young frontman is expected to be a big hit for new side Town in the North Wales Coast West Premier Division.

His dazzling talents have already been in evidence in all-blue, having notched a hat-trick in the recent 4-2 victory over Pentraeth. He also scored in a recent 2-1 win over Gwalchmai.

Dion Billing (to Gaerwen)

Billing is a very versatile player who can fill in a few different positions, but has predominantly featured in centre midfield for Gaerwen so far in pre-season.

First team manager Justin Gallagher and new man Billing have previously worked together.

Billing said: “I’m looking forward to getting back into football after a couple of years out studying. With Gaerwen I believe we have a realistic target of aiming for silverware this season and to try and be as competitive as possible.”

Gallagher added: “I’ve worked with Dion previously in football and have always been impressed with him as a player.

“He’s a coach’s dream because he can play a few different positions and will always give you 100% wherever you stick him. I think he’s been a great addition and I know the lads have been impressed with him so far.”
