Sion Morris hit an impressive 70 for Colwyn Bay’s first team against Liverpool
Darren Leach picked up a superb 5-50 as Northop Hall took the spoils at bottom club St Helens.
After winning the toss, Hall skipper Will Higginson put the opposition in and new-ball pair Leach and Kieron New soon made hay.
Paceman New got both openers cheaply and finished up with 2-22 off 11 overs, while spinner James Hurlin claimed 3-35 off 15, but Leach did the main damage, that 5-50 coming off 14.4 overs.
The Hall were reduced to 9-2 and 35-3 early on, but Jac Kennedy (48 not out) and Joshua Andrady (22) put on a crucial 61 for the fourth wicket.
Ending on 109-6 off 32.4 overs, the visitors took the points 20-4.
Opener Sion Morris made 70 for Bay, but Liverpool’s match-winner Liam Naylor was even more effective with 112 not out as the hosts took the spoils.
Invited to bat, Bay were all out for 190 in 56.4 overs, Morris’ 70 including seven fours and a six, with next best score being 21 from Vishal Kushwah.
Jared Clein collected 5-64 for the home side.
Liverpool were thankful to Naylor for his unbeaten ton of 87 balls and including 17 fours, as no other batsman could make a score.
Naylor’s effort ensured the hosts got to 191-5 in 38.3 overs, Paul Jenkins (2-42) and Kushwah (2-28) best for the visitors.
Prestatyn were left facing a huge chase after hosts Spring View rattled up 276-3, Suleman Khan blasting 138 not out and Edwin Geary 92.
The visitors were dismissed for 166 in reply, Sheil Sethi 51 and Gareth Leonard 35, Jonny Broad 4-17 and that man Suleman 3-41 for the 25-4 points winners.
A captain’s innings of 61 from Tom Roberts did much to ensure the Bay ran out winners at Penrhyn Avenue.
The hosts dipped to 5-2 early on, but Roberts then put on 83 with Ross Hudson (31) for the third wicket.
Matt Russell added 31 as Bay were bowled out for 193, Andrew Bowes with 4-32 for the visitors.
Shay Williams then produced a brilliant return of 5-20 off 13.3 overs as Spring were bounced out for 136, Tom Clarke an excellent 2-16 from 11.
Fourteen-year-old spinner Joshua Leach, son of first teamer Darren, continued his magical form with 4-40, but on this occasion his Northop Hall side ended up narrow losers to Liverpool outfit Rainhill.
Inserted by the visitors, Hall posted 183-4 declared off 43 overs, Evan Withe 47, Archie Sussex 47 not out, Alastair Andrady 36.
With Leach the best of the attack, the hosts had Rainhill seven down for 144, but the Merseysiders managed to get over the line for a two-wicket win.
