Taking six wickets in a senior cricket game is a good achievement but not that unusual.
However, when the bowler is just 14-years-old and the standard he is playing at is pretty strong, then you have something special.
Joshua Leach produced superb figures of 6-63 off 16 overs when representing Northop Hall 2nd XI in Saturday’s draw at Colwyn Bay 2nd XI in the Liverpool and District Competition 2nd XI Division One.
The Hawarden High School youngster claimed all six wickets to fall in the Bay innings, securing a first five-for and the best analysis to date of his senior career.
And Joshua followed up on Sunday with 3-48 as Hall 2nds beat Wavertree 2nd XI by three wickets.
The left-arm spinner is currently leading wicket taker in his division with 22 in league games. He has also already represented the Hall’s first team.
A Cheshire County cricketer, he is part of the Cheshire County Junior Emerging Player Programme.
Joshua comes from good cricketing stock, as dad Darren was a consistent all-rounder for many years for Connah’s Quay and is now also at Northop Hall, where he plays in the firsts.
