Double joy for Colwyn Bay in North Wales Women’s Cricket League

Clwb Criced Bae Colwyn celebrated a double victory in the second round of matches in the North Wales Women’s Cricket League on Sunday.

Teams start with 200 runs. They then add the runs they score to the 200 with five taken off for every wicket they lose.

For instance on Sunday, Bay scored 108-7 against Dolgellau, making it 200 + 108 = 308, minus seven wickets (-35) for a net total of 273.

Each team innings comprises 16 overs.

All three games were played at Northop on Sunday.

Dolgellau (0) 87-4 (net score 267) Colwyn Bay (5) 108-7 (net score 273)

In a close contest the Bay edged victory by just six runs.

Put into bat, Colwyn lost seven wickets in making 108 for a net total of 273.

Hannah Kennedy made 25 (net 20) and Jane Smith 16 (net 11).

Ffion Gittins collected a very impressive 4-15 for Dolgellau.

In reply, Dol finished on 87-4 (net 267), Henrietta Davies-Dunn best with 20, skipper Bernie Conneely adding 7 and Gittins 10 (net 5).

Pallavi Dodia scooped 2-14 for Bay in a cracking game.

Northop (5) 73-4 (net 253) Dolgellau (0) 70-4 (net 250)

It just wasn’t Dolgellau’s day.

They got even closer to victory against Northop than they did versus Colwyn Bay, but ended up losers by three runs.

Inserted by the opposition, Dolgellau posted 70-4 for a net tally of 250, Lucy McManus 2-15 for the Flintshire outfit.

Captain Jane Williams (9) then top-scored as Northop scrambled over the line on 73-4 for a net 253. Bella Williams and Ann Roberts both made a crucial 6 apiece.
