Cymru Alliance – April 2, 2016

Another three points collected on the road as Denbigh ran out 2-0 winners at Alyn Park in this week five years ago.

Again Town manager Gareth Thomas was forced into changes with Liam Smith and Ant Williams missing, whilst captain Warren Duckett was only deemed fit enough for the bench.

The game started with Denbigh having plenty of possession and threatening from the off, Alan Bull scoring on four minutes only for an offside flag to rule the goal out. Next up Sal Kisitu fired wide after a good run.

Mold looked to go long and created a few half chances with Ross McDowell guilty of failing to test Elliot Power when in good positions.

The opening goal arrived on 21 minutes when Sam Tate fired home from the edge of the box after Mold failed to clear a corner kick.

This lifted Denbigh and only a superb goal-line clearance by an Alex defender kept the score down.

The second half saw Mold up their game but they could not break down a well drilled Denbigh back-line, though they will feel Lee Jones should have done better when he went through on goal.

Denbigh were rocking and playing with no pattern as Mold chased and hurried them with their play.

On 82 minutes, skipper Duckett, who had only just came on the field, picked the ball up 40 yards out, beat his man and curled a superbly struck shot into the top corner to seal another valuable three points.

Many thanks to Steve Reds of Denbigh Town for the match report
