Amlwch Town’s versatile performer Paige Williams today chooses team 21 in the North Wales Women’s Football Dream XI series.

In recent times Paige, 26, has represented the Ynys Môn team which won a silver medal at the 2019 Inter-Island Games and been part of the Amlwch side that were crowned North Wales League Division Two champions and Supplementary Cup winners.

In selecting her Dream Team, Paige follows previous ‘managers’ Tegan Hewitt, Alaw Davies-Smith, Nia Wyn Ellis, Annmarie Jones, Fflur Williams, Chelsea Evans, Abby Williams, Gwenno Gibbard Bolton, Lexi Crawley, Claire Colville, Cerys Gadd, Libby McClelland, Meinir Thomas, Erica Jones, Rachel Roberts, Beca Williams, Mari Gibbard, Emily Jones, Cara Wyn Hughes and Catrin Wyn Thomas.

PAIGE’S PEARLS (4-5-1)

GOALKEEPER

Nicky Davies

Played with Wales international Nicky in a few Island Games now and she always brings so much confidence to the back line as you know she will always save the ball from going in the net. Not afraid to shout at the defence either.

DEFENDERS

Left back – Sioned Bohana

Very strong player, and very quick – has a great shot on her when taking free kicks.

Central defence – Erica Jones

Always strong presence on the pitch, never leaves a player alone when attacking at her goal. Can read the game really well.

Central defence – Laura Eynon

Always a strong player to play with, gives great confidence to all team members and can read the game so well. Was a privilege to play with her in the Island Games as she captained the team so well.

Right back – Hannah Smith

Played with Hannah (formerly McGoona) in Bangor, has a great touch and can pass the ball off to wingers easily. Not afraid to get the shot off given the chance.

MIDFIELDERS

Left wing – Catrin Evans

Fantastic player for her age, has so much confidence taking defenders on, not afraid to shoot but also willing to pass for others in a better position. Can go very far in the game given half the chance/opportunities.

Centre midfield – Ffion Owen

Great player – might be quiet off the field but completely dominates the game when she plays, and has a great shot on her too.

Central defensive midfield – Katie Davies (Williams)

Katie Williams (yellow and green) in action for Caernarfon Town

So much experience and willing to pass on information to her team-mates. Can pick a pass out from anywhere, not afraid to get stuck in whether that’s scoring a goal (her free kick in Jersey was amazing) or putting a last minute tackle in.

Centre midfield – Cerys Gadd

Played with Cer in a few teams now, great player whether you need her to sit deep or be part of an attack. Great shot on her and a good team player always willing to help the younger players to gain confidence.

Right wing – Erin Maloney

Fantastic player for her age, can play in multiple positions, has great pace and not scared to run at the defenders. Prolific goalscorer. Again given more opportunities would be a great player.

FORWARDS

Striker – Mari Gibbard

Not afraid to shoot from anywhere, is great at taking defenders on but again will also pass if others are in a better position.
