Council pitches in with good news for Prestatyn Sports FC

Drainage is set to get a lot better at The Meadows in Prestatyn

All local football clubs could do with a boost at present and in the case of Prestatyn Sports they have certainly received one.

The tier 4 North Wales Coast East Premier Division outfit have received crucial funding for essential drainage work on their new pitch at The Meadows.

The club announced: “We were delighted yesterday to receive a phone call from Denbighshire County Council to say we were successful in our grant application to improve the drainage on our new pitch.

“This became vital after the storms we had this winter as we clearly saw the drainage wasn’t up to that weather and would cause many adult and junior games to be called off if we weren’t in the pandemic situation.

“So a big thanks to the council for helping us out as a club again.

“From the work on the lease, to the railings to now this pitch improvement, the council have been amazing. And we can’t thank them enough.

“A massive thanks to Carol Evans from the council for her very kind letter.”

Sports have already attained the security of a long-term lease on The Meadows, where the club’s officials and supporters have done fantastic work building new facilities. The drainage grant is the icing on the cake.

The club added: “This grant was only possible with letters of recommendation and thanks to all the parents of junior teams that submitted theirs.

“Also, Mr Dave Jones from the Grassroots North Wales website for his great letter detailing the progress that we have made, Mr Bryan Roberts from the seniors league and respected referee Alan Jones for their brilliant letters of recommendation.

“All have been down and seen the progress made at the pitch and have all now played their part in helping us as a club improve our facilities again. Massive thank you gentlemen.

“Special mention to Barbara Smith for all the hard work putting this and other grant applications together for the club. We would be lost without you.”
