This month’s Grassroots North Wales Clwb Y Mis have won all four of their matches in March, but that is not the sole reason they are our latest success story.
Before the start of this month, Gwalchmai FC had not recorded a single league victory all season – their stats reading three draws and 13 defeats.
However, after beating CPD Penrhyndeudraeth 2-1 on March 7 to reach the Cwpan Snowdonia semi-finals, Craig Evans’ side followed up with three straight league wins, home to Llanberis (2-0) and away at Mynydd Llandegai (5-1) and Cemaes Bay (2-1) to lift themselves out of the Tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier Division bottom two for the first time this season.
It has been a remarkable turnaround for the Ynys Môn village team which finished second in the Premier last season, but lost the vast majority of their players in summer 2025, leaving loyal manager Evans to completely rebuild the squad.
It has proved tough going with some heavy losses on the way, but Gwalchmai have turned the tide and still have hopes of winning silverware in 2025-26.
March 7: CPD Penrhyndeudraeth (home – Cwpan Snowdonia) 2-1
March 14: CPD Llanberis (home – league) 2-0
March 21: CPD Mynydd Llandegai (away – league) 5-1
March 31: Cemaes Bay (away – league) 2-1
