Two of Amlwch Town’s finest-ever players share a birthday today.

Captain and player-coach Carol Lewis and defender/winger Paige Williams were born on December 14 in 1987 and 1994 respectively.

Defender Carol is an inspirational leader who has played a major role in Amlwch’s successes of recent years.

She led the side to their first-ever trophy – the North Wales Supplementary Cup – in 2018-19 and followed up with the North Wales League Division Two title in 2019-20.

Carol has also been a key figure in her team’s encouraging performances since the North Wales Women’s League was relaunched as a one-division competition in 2021-22.

Strong in the tackle and a tremendous organiser and motivator at the back, Carol was also part of the Ynys Môn squad which won silver at the 2019 Inter Games Football Tournament.

Paige was in the same Anglesey squad which reached new heights in 2019. Her sister, Lexi, was top-scorer in the women’s competition with five goals.

Player of the match in the 2018-19 Supplementary Cup final, which saw Amlwch beat Wrexham 2-1, Paige also starred in Amlwch’s Division Two champions squad of 2019-20.

Paige started playing competitive football from the age of about 10. Her first team was the mighty Llandegfan Under-14’s, who won their league undefeated.

She took a break from the game at 16, due to a lack of teams available to play for, but restarted at 18 when she joined the successful Bangor University women’s team, which won back-to-back BUCS League titles.

At this time she was known by her maiden name of Paige Musgrave.

That all changed in October 2018 when she married Alex Williams. The couple have a son, Spencer Vaughn, born in November 2021.

Family life and the pandemic’s effect on football have limited Paige’s appearances in the past two years, but she has featured in three games this season.
