Wonder-goal Beattie back at club where he made his name

Striker Lee Beattie is back at the club where he became a worldwide internet sensation six years ago.

Beattie, 32, has re-signed for Prestatyn Town after a brief spell at neighbours Prestatyn Sports.

On April 19, 2015, Beattie scored with a mesmerising acrobatic volley from outside the box in Prestatyn’s 3-1 defeat to Bangor City at Bastion Gardens.

Many predicted he was a surefire nomination for the Puskas Award, where the greatest goals from world football are featured, but sadly and unjustly he was not listed among the contenders.

Beattie had made his Welsh Premier debut for Prestatyn Town earlier that season. He previously played for Meliden.

Town director of football John Lawless said: “I’m delighted Lee has agreed to rejoin the club. He’s proven at this level and is a Prestatyn lad who knows the club well and we’re looking forward to working with him.”

Beattie commented: “I’m really looking forward to playing alongside the quality that’s been brought into the club and can’t wait to get going.”
