Nathan Craig leaves Flint Town United due to work changes

Nathan Craig has left Flint Town United.

The 29-year-old has revealed he can no longer fully commit to the club as a result of changes to his working pattern.

This has made it harder for him to attend regular training sessions and he feels it is unfair on both parties for him to carry on in the knowledge he will not be able to give it 100 per cent.

Caernarfon-based Craig runs his own soccer school.

A club statement said: “In a statement given to chairman Darryl Williams, Nathan expressed his thanks to everyone at the club for making him feel very welcome and stated he had thoroughly enjoyed his brief tenure here.

“He went on to say that he sincerely hoped Flint would be successful in their battle to avoid relegation this season and believed the squad possessed enough quality and talent to do so.

“We thank Nathan for his honesty in reaching this decision and wish him all the best for the future.”

Craig joined the Silkmen at the start of the 2020-21 season, following six years at Caernarfon Town where he won the Cymru Alliance League title twice and inspired the club’s return to the Cymru Premier.

The former Everton professional and Wales Under-21 international scored the winner in Flint’s first game back in the Cymru Premier after a 22-year absence, but other results have not gone as well with the Essity Stadium club currently bottom of the table.

Former Prestatyn Town manager Neil Gibson recently took over as Flint boss following the departure of Niall McGuinness.
