Caernarfon will target a fourth straight win in the Cymru Premier when they welcome Newtown to The Oval this evening.

After a recent 6-0 whipping at Penybont, the Canaries have bounced back in style, beating Cefn Druids (2-1), Barry Town United (2-0) and Aberystwyth Town (3-1) to secure top six status.

The Cofis will be going for a double having won 3-2 at Newtown in September, thanks to goals from Paulo Mendes, Sion Bradley and Noah Edwards.

The Robins are without a win in three and lie next to bottom.

Tonight’s visitors will have a familiar face in their squad, as former Town striker Jamie Breese returns to The Oval for the first time since his summer move to Latham Park.

Caernarfon manager Huw Griffiths said he expects a close contest this evening.

He added: “The fixtures are coming thick and fast now and the lads have certainly shown their determination and grit to bounce back from the 6-0 defeat less than a fortnight ago to record three impressive wins since then.

“They’ve ‘grown up’ as players, they’ve given their all, a number of them have played through pain, but throughout they’ve never given up, they’ve wanted to make the Caernarfon fans proud of them.

“Let’s hope that tonight they can keep going for another one game before having a bit of recovery time until our Boxing Day fixture with Bala.

“Against Aberystwyth we had an excellent first half, and certainly dominated the play. They came back at us somewhat in the second half but we were able to keep them at bay.

“Newtown will be coming into the game tonight with fresh legs and raring to go having had their last game postponed, so it’s important that we’re ‘up for it’ from the very first whistle and that we keep that momentum going right until the end. We will certainly do our very best to give you an early Christmas present!

“During the very busy and sometimes difficult times in recent weeks, the work the coaching staff members have put in has been superb.
