Unbeaten The New Saints maintained a five-point lead at the JD Cymru Premier summit after Saturday’s 2-1 win over Barry Town United at Park Hall.

Louis Robles broke the deadlock on 39 minutes when his back-post header could only be helped into the net by Barry defender Chris Hugh.

Greg Draper doubled the lead in the 73rd minute when he drilled home a low cross from Robles.

Nat Jarvis replied for the visitors on 78 to give the leaders something to worry about before the final whistle.

Second-place Bala Town made it seven games undefeated by thrashing Penybont 4-1 at Maes Tegid.

Benjamin Ahmun handed the visitors a 22nd-minute lead, but an Ismail Yakubu own goal from a corner levelled matters soon after.

Chris Venables converted a penalty for the Lakesiders on 35 minutes following a foul on Henry Jones and in no time an Oliver Dalton own goal made it 3-1.

Will Evans notched the only goal of the second period from close range to seal a Bala success.

Flint Town United led 2-1 at Newtown, but ended up 3-2 losers.

Callum Bratley and Richie Foulkes struck for the Silkmen, but Neil Mitchell and Nick Rushton responded for the Robins before Tyrone Ofori’s sharp finish on the turn nabbed a 69th minute winner.

Cefn Druids v Haverfordwest County was postponed due to a positive Covid test at Haverfordwest.
