After seven straight defeats Flint bounced back to form with an emphatic victory at Bridge Meadow in a game which featured three red cards.

Haverfordwest finished with nine men after Kieran Lewis was shown a straight red, as well as Alaric Jones’ two yellow cards. Flint’s Wes Baynes also took an early shower after two yellows.

The next-to-bottom visitors started well, Kai Edwards heading over from a Baynes free kick.

Niall McGuinness’ side took a 21st minute lead when keeper Mark Cadwallader headed forward in the box, keeper Matt Turner made a mess of gathering the ball and Alex Jones fired into an empty net from an angle.

Callum Bratley then drilled wide following good work from Cadwallader after Jones won possession.

Five minutes into the second half, the Silkmen doubled their lead with a fabulous individual goal.

Conor Harwood cut through the home defence like a knife through butter before slamming a left-footed shot beyond an advancing Turner.

On 59 minutes, the Bluebirds were reduced to 10 when Alaric Jones received a second caution for pulling back Cadwallader as the Flint man capitalised on the defender’s mistake to race in on goal..

Baynes tested Turner from the resulting rocket free-kick.

Flint were in total control, Cadwallader and Bratley outstanding.

The only low point for the visitors came when the experienced Baynes was red carded for pulling back Ben Fawcett after earlier being booked for time-wasting in the 26th minute.

However, County’s Lewis soon received his marching orders after he lunged recklessly in on Alex Jones.

Late on, the excellent Jones launched forward towards substitute Ben Steer, who lost the ball but fortunately was gifted it back and slotted into the gaping net.

Flint: John Danby, Sam Hart, Nathan Craig, Wes Baynes, Kai Edwards, Richard Foulkes, Mark Cadwallader (Les Davies 78), Alex Jones, Callum Bratley (Andrew Brown 90), Conor Harwood (Ben Steer 85), Ben Maher. Subs not used: Aaron Jones (gk), Thomas Kemp.
