Goal machine Rosie Hughes has committed to another season with Denbigh Town Ladies.
Last term saw Rosie, 24, bang in 18 goals in all competitions for Denbigh, who only played nine matches in a much-disrupted campaign due to the weather and later coronavirus outbreak.
The former Colwyn Bay, Kinmel Bay and Llandudno striker netted double hat-tricks in cup ties against Northop Hall and Mountain Rangers.
She also scored four times versus Northop Hall in the league and notched single goals in cup clashes with Connah’s Quay Nomads and Wrexham.
That sort of form was no surprise as Rosie was previously a consistent goal-getter for Llandudno in the Welsh Premier League.
She was regularly top-scorer for Tudno and netted 15 times in the 2015-16 season when Sarah Colville’s side made it all the way to the Welsh Cup final.
Only Rosie’s team-mate, Katie Bowe, bagged more goals (21).
Rosie also represented Wales in her younger years and is renowned for her pace and finishing ability.
New Denbigh manager Jordie Baker said: “It’s a massive signing to keep hold of from last year. Rosie’s an ex-Welsh Premier player that’s brings quality into this side – a striker with great finesse.”
Baker also announced the following signings for Denbigh, with more to come in the next fortnight or so…
Rosie Gillis
Switched on player that can read the game very well. Great addition in defence for us.
Alisha Mather
Very young player that has the potential to be very good player. Will hopefully give us an option in midfield and attack.
Jess Duff
Coming to us from Henllan. Jess is a very young player that looks keen to learn. Defender.
Cara Jones
The sky is the limit for Cara. In my few years of coaching girls football I haven’t seen someone with as much raw talent as her. I am very excited to work with her. Cara can play anywhere across the front line. She has come up from the U16s last season along with Faith Walker, Roslyn Fryer and Miriam Owen.
Miriam Owen
Miriam will bring us quality this season with her defensive capabilities. Only 17, she doesn’t look out of place as we build for the future of women’s football.
