Meet Llanfairfechan Town’s new manager: Adam Parry

Llanfairfechan Town’s new manager Adam Parry

How have the first few weeks of management been? Surely harder than usual due to the COVID-19 restrictions?

The first few weeks back with the team have been good, we have used the time we have had in lockdown to plan ahead so we feel more prepared than ever.

The COVID 19 restrictions have been a challenge but as a club we have all worked together to make sure everyone can attend training safely.

Rhys Griffiths has been superb in organising the groups of 5 in the first phase and continues to do so in phase 2.

You’ve made one great signing so far in Sean Sheridan. Any others on the way?

Yes we have a few that we will be announcing this week who have been training with us but I think managing to retain all of our key players and adding quality to the competitive squad we have is massive.

How have the early training sessions been going?

The early sessions have gone really well, we are managing to train up to 45 lads a week whilst sticking to the COVID guidelines. I don’t think there is another club at our level that has that many players in training weekly.

What are your feelings on the new pyramid? Is Tier 4 – North Wales Coast East Premier Division about right for Llanfairfechan?

I personally feel we have been knocking on the door of the Welsh Alliance 2 the last 3 seasons and even in one season missing out by 1 point to Kinmel Bay, but I think we are good enough for this level and look forward to some massive games in what looks to be a great league.

Will your management style be very different to Andrew Croston’s (previous Llanfair boss, now Llandudno FC chairman)?

That’s a difficult one because me and Andrew worked very closely but I think my management style will be different because we will be playing a higher level.

We have gone from being the favourites in most games to being the underdogs.

What about the style of play Llanfairfechan fans can expect this season?

I think defensively we will be solid as we have always had a good defensive record since I’ve been involved with the firsts so I think we will make ourselves difficult to play against.

The Llanfair fans can expect to see a high energy team that will be willing to run themselves into the ground to win.

I think if we add the pace we have going forward, I think we will be strong enough to cause problems in the tier 4 league.

Any predictions? Where can you see yourselves finishing in the season ahead?

I can’t help but be optimistic after seeing the lads in training and making good additions to the squad. I think we will be aiming to be the surprise package this season.

I would just like to add how much of a good job the guys at Llanfair are doing from Marc Shepherd (chairman) constantly making pitch improvements, Dave Roberts working hard as secretary to get us to tier 4 standard, Rhys Griffiths working hard to organise the groups during COVID, Craig Berry and the new reserve coach Paul Bourne for helping out at training, Curtis Murray our captain who has been an example to all players and helping out.
A big thank you to Caroline Griffiths as well for helping out with washing bibs, kits etc which is critical in these COVID times.
Here at Llanfair Town we are all working as a team and working hard to improve this club.
