I’ve reported on some prolific goalscoring seasons for Ian Pleming over the years.
My first memory was receiving a report in my first year on the Caernarfon and Denbigh Herald in which he was named Ian FLEMING.
Instantly, the James Bond jokes were flowing, but after the paper was published, I found out the joke was on me as his name was spelt PLEMING.
5 Glantraeth 4 Llanfairfechan Town 1 (2011/12)
Always nice to score in a cup final but this was memorable as I chipped the keeper for my hat-trick as we won the Gwynedd Safeflue Shield at Bethesda.
4 Glantraeth 2 Bodedern 1 (2010/11)
This was in the FAW Trophy, when I scored the winner.
A close game but I went through with 10 minutes left on the clock to slot the ball into the bottom corner.
That game had everything, a very heated match which I loved and just have the final say was just perfect.
3 Mountain Rangers v Nefyn United (2009/10)
Another memorable game. I was lucky enough to pop up with the winner and my fourth of the game on my debut for Rangers.
My best mate Mark Pritchard and I had both joined the previous week and made our debuts.
Mark also found the net, my goal was just inside the box and I placed the ball in the top corner.
2 Caernarfon Town Supporters Club v Aberffraw (2010/11)
A Sunday League final played at Llanfairpwll.
Loads of Cofis showed their support and I remember a long ball upfield.
I just shielded the ball from the defender and on the turn bang – smashed it in.
To win any cup is special but win one playing with your mates and when your manager is one your closest mates that’s something else. What topped it off was having our kids walk out with before the match.
All in all, just a day you won’t forget.
1 Bontnewydd v Llanrug Reserves (2004/05)
I went through on goal and placed the ball in the bottom corner and that sealed the Caernarfon & District League title for Bontnewydd in my first season of men’s football.
