Grieves and Williams back in charge at revitalised CPD Llannerchymedd

Players have been flocking back to CPD Llannerchymedd this summer, but until today it was not officially known who the managers would be for the 2020-21 season.

That has now changed, however, with Meirion Grieves and Iwan Williams announced as the team to lead the Anglesey club in the campaign ahead.

The pair were in charge at Tan Parc for three seasons, from 2016-17 to 2018-19, before stepping down last term.

Assistant-manager Williams said: “Mei was asked recently if he fancied a return to management and confessed he had missed the banter and said he would think about it.

“Things moved along quickly from there, ex-players started talking about returning to Llan.

“Meirion asked if I’d rejoin him as his assistant if he took on the role, which I jumped at the chance.

Now with the names that have come forward pledging their commitment to Llannerchymedd for season 2020/21 it is looking rosy again at Tan Parc.”

Dan Thomas

So far, 12 new names have been signed for the forthcoming campaign, the latest three being Dan Thomas, affectionately known as Bambi, Gethin Hughes and Callum Mcminimee.

Superb central defender Thomas left Llan for Llangefni Town four years ago to experience football at a higher level, which proved no problem with his natural ability.

He says his decision to leave Llangefni was a difficult one, but he had decided towards the end of last season to make the move back to Llannerchymedd, his home village.

Matthew Jones and Mcminimee have made an identical switch from Talwrn Road to Tan Parc.

Gethin Hughes

Gethin Hughes, a local lad that left Llan for a stint at Bro Goronwy last season, is another on his way back to the Medd for season 2020/21.

Versatile Geth, six foot something and strong as an Ox, played in defence for Bro, but is equally happy as an attacking midfielder and also has a good eye for a quick goal.

Callum Mcminimee

Mcminimee is an attacking midfielder or best suited out wide. He has been a big part of Llangefni Town’s recent success as well as having stints at Bodedern, Amlwch and Llannerchymedd over the years.

He will be a firm favourite at Tan Parc with his pacy, attacking style.
