Jeff Scott is a former secretary of Holyhead Hotspur and CPD Glantraeth and was a very good friend of the late Bob Brodie.
Bob, who sadly passed away in 2011, played for and managed several clubs on Anglesey, including the aforementioned two, plus the likes of Bodedern, Gwalchmai and Holyhead Town.
The popular Scotsman signed hundreds of players over the years and Jeff knows most of them.
Following a chat this week, Jeff suggested he picked an All-Time North Wales XI based on who he remembers as Bob’s favourite players.
So here goes….
The Holyhead-based keeper has proved a very popular selection among managers choosing their All-Time North Wales XI’s since the Grassroots North Wales series started.
With more than 100 Welsh Premier appearances to his credit for Caernarfon Town, Connah’s Quay Nomads and Rhyl, Paul has also kept goal for numerous Huws Gray Alliance sides, including Holyhead Hotspur, Glantraeth, Llangefni Town, Llanfairpwll and Porthmadog.
He has also represented Warrington Town and AFC Blackpool in the English pyramid and captained Ynys Môn to the 2019 Inter-Island Games title, saving a penalty in the final.

Strong right-back whose clubs included Holyhead Hotspur and Llannerchymedd.
Relentless player, never gave in and was admired greatly by Bob for this.
Dynamic left-back who was a stand-out performer for teams such as Holyhead Hotspur and Llanfairpwll.
Rock-solid central defender who was good on the ball as well as in the air.
Played for Holyhead Hotspur, Llanfairpwll and Holyhead Mountain Rangers.
A tall, confident central defender who played for Porthmadog in the Welsh Premier League and for Cymru Alliance side Glantraeth, where he was part of the team which famously knocked Bangor City out of the 2003-04 Welsh Cup.
Older brother of Bangor City legend Les Davies.
Much-travelled goalscoring midfielder who played at a high level for the likes of Caernarfon Town, Holyhead Hotspur, Bethesda Athletic and Llanberis.
Nicknamed “Fiery” Jackson, not just because he had plenty of aggression in his game, but also because he was a firefighter at RAF Valley camp.
Was a member of the very strong Glantraeth squad of the mid-1990s and the Amlwch Town side which did so well as the turn of the millennium.
Better known through his nickname, but known best of all for being one of the finest attacking midfielders Anglesey has ever produced.
Outstanding with Llanfairpwll in the mid to late 1980s, he attracted the interest of several Football League clubs.
Later starred for Cemaes Bay, his home village Bodedern and Holyhead Hotspur among other clubs.
Celebrated his 40th birthday this year but looks at least 10 years younger.
After spending a season at Bethesda Athletic, Gareth was signed by Bob Brodie for Glantraeth, where he went on to be a resounding success, winning the Cymru Alliance double in 2005/06.
Had a spell in the Welsh Premier with Porthmadog before joining Holyhead Hotspur, where he was a member of the 2011/12 Welsh Alliance treble-winning squad.
Pardon the pun, but say no Moore.
Fantastic striker, quick and a deadly finisher.
Prolific marksman who ended his career back at Holyhead Hotspur after a successful spell at Glantraeth.
Picked up some Welsh Premier experience with Bangor City.
Other clubs included Holyhead Mountain Rangers, Holyhead Town, Holyhead Juniors and Llanfairpwll.
His son Craig has carried on the family tradition as a goal machine for Trearddur Bay United, Bryngwran Bulls, Holyhead Town, Glantraeth and Bodedern.
Lived in Llanfachraeth and was a goal-getter supreme for Bodedern and Glantraeth.
Not particularly tall, but still had all the attributes needed for a great striker.
Bob rated him really highly.
Bob’s original goal machine. Always in the goals for Holyhead teams. Dad of one of Anglesey’s all-time great goalscorers Asa Thomas, who recently passed the 500 goals mark for his career.
Strong, direct attacking midfielder who had a spell with Bangor City in the 1980s and has also played for several Anglesey clubs including Trearddur Bay United, Cemaes Bay and various Holyhead teams.
Was still turning out in the Anglesey League into his 50s for Holyhead Town.
Jackie is the son of Holyhead Town’s legendary striker of the 1950s and 60s, the late Tommy Welsh, who scored 631 career goals and was a great friend of Jeff and Bob, regularly sharing stories in the Railway Club.
Bob was assistant-manager to Colin Hawkins at Cemaes Bay while Jackie was a player there.
Took over from Bob as manager of Glantraeth and the rest is history, Whelo guiding the Bodorgan club to the Cymru Alliance double in 2005/06.
Bob signed Paul for Glantraeth and said from day one he gave the dressing room a massive lift.
Played for Bob at Bodedern and later became the manager, leading the 2004-05 Welsh Alliance League title winners.
Talented young forward who played under Bob at Glantraeth and also made a mark with Holyhead-based teams.
