Breaking: Sean Eardley leaves Caernarfon to take over as Llandudno manager

Sean Eardley has left Caernarfon Town to take over as manager at former club Llandudno.

Huw Griffiths now becomes sole first team boss at The Oval having joined the set-up in February. Griffiths will announce his backroom staff soon.

Eardley joined Caernarfon in May 2017 as assistant to manager Iwan Williams, having previously been number two to Alan Morgan at Maesdu Park.

He was part of a very successful spell in Tudno’s history which included winning the Cymru Alliance in 2014-15, the club finishing third on debut in the Welsh Premier and qualifying for Europe.

Llandudno had been managerless since relieving Matty Jones of his duties last month following a disappointing campaign on their return to the Cymru North.

Now Seasiders fans can look forward to the exciting prospect of one of their own returning home.

In November 2017, Eardley became first team boss at Caernarfon after Iwan Williams took up the manager’s role at Llandudno.

At the time Eardley took the helm at The Oval, the Canaries were top of the Huws Gray Alliance and they stayed there, not losing a single league game for the rest of the season.

That meant a return to the Cymru Premier after a 10-year absence and in his two seasons as WPL chief, Eardley has worked wonders, leading Caernarfon to a pair of top six finishes.

A bubbly, infectious character, the 34-year-old enjoyed a tremendous relationship with the Cofis fans, as well as the players and officials at the club.

Caernarfon Town chairman Paul Evans said of Eardley’s departure: “It’s a sad day for us in many ways but we fully respect Sean’s decision.

“He has been excellent and we thank him for everything he has helped us achieve. However, the club moves on and Huw has already made his mark with us during his short time at The Oval.

“We are very confident that the club can push on again now and continue to make our mark in the Cymru Premier League and hopefully achieve our European dreams next season.”
