Out one door and in the next for Huw Griffiths – all in one day!

It has been quite a day in the life of football manager Huw Griffiths!

After news was released earlier today that Huw had parted company with Cefn Druids, it was announced this evening he is now the new boss of Caernarfon Town.

Sean Eardley remains at The Oval as assistant-manager and has given the thumbs-up to Griffiths’ appointment.

Huw enjoyed a very successful spell in charge of Druids and was named Welsh Premier League manager of the season in 2018 after leading the Ancients into the Europa League.

He has taken immediate charge of the team and is delighted to have Eardley as his assistant at the club.

Huw told the CTFC website: “I’m really looking forward to working with Eards. He’s a great bloke and we know each other well. I also know Richard (Davies – assistant), and I’m certain we’ll work well as a team.”

Eardley, such a key figure in Caernarfon’s successes in recent years, leading the club to the Huws Gray Alliance title and two top six finishes in the Cymru Premier, believes Huw’s arrival is exactly what he and the management team require.

“To be working alongside Huw is a boost that myself and the management team needed,” said Sean.

“He’s a great guy off the field, and since our very first game against Druids back in the top flight we’ve kept in touch on different football matters. He now adds experience and knowledge to what is already a strong management team.

“The players are buzzing to embrace a new voice and are looking forward to some different ideas, We can’t wait for the next 11 matches now, including the Welsh Cup, which will have that element of spice now. As long as he doesn’t nick my song I’m happy!“

Interim chairman, Paul Evans, hopes Huw’s arrival can help the club achieve its long-held aim of qualifying for Europe whilst pushing the club forward in the long term, and is keen to make it clear the new manager fits not only the club’s management team, but also its policy of giving the best local talent an opportunity to play at the highest level for the Canaries.

Paul said: “We’re all excited by Huw’s arrival and want to make it clear that the appointment was made with the full blessing of Sean Eardley, who has, and will continue to be, a major figure in the club.

“Huw will bring added experience to the management team and will work within our remit of securing that the best local players wear the yellow shirt. We are all looking forward to working with Huw and welcome him to the Oval.”

Grassroots North Wales is still awaiting a response to our leading question as to whether Huw has been really brought in to help Eards fully learn Welsh. Huw is a fluent Welsh speaker, while Eards is Wales’ most famous learner…..
