Why did Huw Griffiths leave Cefn Druids so suddenly?
The mystery has deepened following a statement released by the Ancients on social media late last night.
The club reveals it took guidance from the FAW before making its decision to part company with Griffiths.
Earlier in the day, Druids announced sporting director Griffiths had his contract terminated with immediate effect.
Later on Friday, Griffiths was unveiled as the new manager of Caernarfon Town.
The following statement from Druids’ official Facebook account later appeared on line.
It said: “Yesterday, we were made aware of a very serious incident involving our Sporting Director in a non-footballing matter and after consideration and guidance from the FAW we were left with no alternative but to immediately terminate Mr Griffiths’ contract.
“We are very disappointed in having to take this action but the club has a duty of care to its players, staff and general public.
“The Board of Directors of Cefn Druids AFC would like to put on record our thanks to Mr Griffiths for his service, dedication and hard work over the past seasons and wish him all the very best for the future.
“Jayson Starkey will take over as caretaker manager whilst the club looks for a replacement.
“We will not be making any further comment.”
