Club appeals against licence refusals to be heard next week

Prestatyn Town (yellow and blue) and Flint Town United in action

Four North Wales football clubs’ appeals against the FAW’s decision to refuse them a licence to compete in the top flight will be heard next week.

Airbus UK Broughton, Cefn Druids, Flint Town United and Prestatyn Town will all have a second chance to prove themselves when the FAW Independent Appeals Body meet remotely next Wednesday, April 29.

Following the results of the FAW First Instance Body meeting on 6 April, a total of six clubs have submitted appeals.

The IAB will consider the appeals of the following clubs:

Newtown (UEFA only)
Airbus UK Broughton (UEFA & Tier 1)
Cefn Druids (UEFA & Tier 1)
Flint Town United (Tier 1)
Prestatyn Town (Tier 1)
Swansea University (Tier 1)

Prestatyn’s issue relates to its TV gantry meeting the necessary criteria.

The FAW Tier 1 Licence is required for clubs to participate in the JD Cymru Premier and for those clubs who qualify for European competitions, a UEFA Licence is also a pre-requisite.

The Club Licensing system aims to assist the continual improvement and development of football clubs at the top level within Wales.

Licensing is a transparent process that enables clubs to demonstrate to their stakeholders that they meet quality standards.
