Netball: Menai Bridge edge a thriller in North West Wales League

Llandudno Jets pushed Menai Bridge all the way in Division One

Menai Bridge edged a thrilling 30-29 victory over Llandudno Jets in North West Wales Netball League Division One on Monday night.

What an evening opener it was between top division veterans Jets and newbies the Bridge.

A very exciting and nail-biting game with high intensity and 100% effort by both teams.

Jets took an early lead, ending the first quarter three goals up, but Menai were not taking any prisoners and came out storming into the second quarter. By half time the Anglesey side had secured a four-goal lead.

Third quarter was almost goal for goal and entering the last the Bridge led 25-20.

Another super-exciting final quarter saw Jets rally big style, but Menai ended up winning it by one.

There must have been something in the water for Menai Bridge tonight as their Division Two team Thunder also took a tidy win home with them.

Opening up a 10-goal lead in the first quarter against Denbigh, they seemed to run away with it from there.

Denbigh GA and Thunder’s GD proved a really good pairing as they both received POM from each other’s teams.

In Division Three, Conwy Storm looked to be a good match for Bangor Uni, keeping them on an even keel and ending the first quarter on eight-apiece.

It proved a bit too much for Storm to keep it up though as Bangor edged away in the second, pushing themselves 20-11 in front by the close.

Bangor increased their lead in a very fast and storming second half of the game and ended up 37-20 victors.
