Division One report

Menai Mavericks were confirmed as Division One runners-up behind champions Arfon Ladies after the Anglesey side’s 28-19 win over Dyffryn Ladies.

Mavericks did not have it all their own way though as the first quarter ended six-apiece.

The islanders gradually built up a lead throughout the match from the second quarter and despite a spirited final session from Dyffryn, Mavericks ended the encounter nine goals ahead.

Carole Davies came out of retirement to help a depleted Dyffryn Ladies in their tough test against Menai Mavericks. Carole was delighted to win Umpires Player of the Match

Arfon Celts were unlucky one-goal losers yet again against Aran in a thriller.

End-to-end action, turnovers galore – whoever lost this one was going to be unfortunate.

Aran did go four goals ahead with a couple of minutes remaining but Celts dug deep. No other team have lost so many games by one goal in a season.

Considering this season is the best placing Celts have ever had, it shows how much they have developed to be so close to the higher finishing teams.

Porthmadog and Dreigiau Brynrefs were relegated after defeats to Walis and Pwllheli respectively.
