Nomads head coach Sara Hilton was less than happy she did not have enough players at her disposal to field a team against Mountain Rangers at Connah’s Quay 3G today – and she has promised repercussions.

Just seven days after beating Port Talbot to reach the Welsh Cup semi-finals, it was anticipated Nomads would have players from their quite large squad queuing up to play.

But that was not the case for this North Wales Women’s League Division Two match, as Sara explained.

“It is not often that we as a club are unable to field a team,” she said.

“We have a strong squad with good numbers but unfortunately on this occasion we had a combination of players with injuries, work commitments and illness.

“We were short on numbers coming into this weekend with then players feeling unwell on the day. It is hugely frustrating considering our recent success and we want to continue to build on that success going forward.

“I have had some difficult conversations with the squad this morning resulting in some squad changes going forward to hopefully ensure this will not be a regular occurrence.”

Mountain Rangers played their first game in 15 weeks due to weather-enforced postponements last weekend, and were majorly disappointed to be left kicking their heels again.

Sioned Phillips (left – captain’s armband) fired in a great penalty for Llanberis

It ended all-square in a cracking Division Two contest.

Llanberis flew out of the traps in the first half and reaped the rewards with a Ffion Mair Roberts tap in.

Pwllheli then turned on the pressure with Erica Jones and Sioned Mair Jones running the show.

Sioned Jones scored a cracker for the visitors to make it 1-1 at half time.

Pwllheli opened the second half as they finished the first in complete control, Magi Elin Hughes in particular standing out.

However, the Darans upset the flow when they won a penalty superbly converted by player-manager Sioned Phillips.

After that it was all Pwllheli, who piled on the pressure as Llanberis went into retreat.

And the Llyn side grabbed the late leveller they deserved through Amy Roberts.

Overall, a great game played with much passion by all with some crunching tackles.

Pwllheli awarded their player of the match to Llio Meleri Jones, while Llanberis went for Alaw Jones as their own choice.

A fairly comfortable win overall for the Wingmakers put them into the semis.

Sian Smith, Rosie Lawrence and Tegan Hewitt grabbed the goals which clinched this local derby played on the Airbus 3G.

Fflur Williams (left) and Jordanne Greenough both scored on their debuts for Bethel

This win for Bethel was not as emphatic as the score suggests.

With around 15 minutes left at Colliers Park, the visitors only led 2-1, but their greater staying power got them over the line in style.

Bethel had ample chances in the first half but took just the one, courtesy of new signing Fflur Williams.

An own goal put the visitors two-up before Wrexham boosted their hopes when Tiffany Sands scored.

In the latter stages, Bethel finally got the goals their play deserved.

Erin Maloney made it three before Anest Roberts added another with a fine free kick.

Maloney struck again with her 21st goal of the season, then Anest Roberts notched her second with a header from a corner.

And to round things off nicely, another new arrival Jordanne Greenough made it 7-1 before the end.
