North West Wales Netball League: Weather ruins Division One programme, Holyhead win thrilling derby

Not only did Storm Ciara flood towns, tear down trees and batter our shorelines, it also ruined an evening of netball for Division One of the North West Wales League on Monday night.
Regular venue Ysgol Y Creuddyn was closed all day due to fallen roof tiles so Division One games from Monday night are postponed for now.
Division Two delivered the island derby between Menai Thunder and Holyhead – and what a battle it was!
Holyhead took an early and what seemed to be the comfortable lead, ending the first quarter nine goals ahead. Menai managed to claw back just two goals in the second.
Bridge drew the third quarter with it being almost goal-for-goal all the way through, both teams scoring eight apiece.
Holyhead looked like they were sitting pretty going into the final quarter at 31-24 ahead, but Menai were nowhere near letting them take the victory without a fight.
After losing their GK Claire Billing with a dislocated shoulder they wanted the win badly for her. But despite winning the final session 10-7, it just was not enough to prevent Holyhead finishing 38-34 in front.
In Division Three, Conwy Storm were desperate to turn the tables on St Asaph Strikes after losing to them by only one goal last time out.

They certainly came out the blocks flying. At half time Storm were already 20-8 up.
St Asaph seemed to pick up the pace a little in the third quarter and then again in the final session they were cooking on gas, but it was too little too late. Conwy Storm ended up 36-23 winners.
Asaph’s attacking circle was certainly the circle of dreams as their GA Courtney Roberts and her opponent GD for Conwy Lisa Wilkins took the players of the match.
