Vale of Clwyd & Conwy League: Rhuddlan only unbeaten side left in Premier, NFA win cup epic

Rhuddlan Town now possess the only unbeaten record in the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy Premier Division after they thrashed Cerrigydrudion 7-0 to move six points clear in top spot.

Matty Rees (3), Ian Davenport (2), Jordan Frazer and Zak Hughes combined to serve up a 10th league win in 12 starts for Wayne Hughes’ side, who have drawn their other two fixtures.

Abergele were beaten for the first time in 13 matches, going down 2-0 at Bro Cernyw, whose goals came via Richard Parry on seven minutes and Carwyn McFadden after 59.

Llanfairfechan Town fell behind to Lee Stokes’ 11th minute header for visitors Llandudno Athletic, but a Jordan Dixon own goal and Ryan Lewis finish had the hosts ahead 2-1 at half time.

It could have been 2-1 the other way had Danny Talbot’s 45th minute penalty not been finger-tipped onto the post by home keeper Barry Eccleston, who conceded the spot-kick. Fechan then scored seconds afterwards with the final kick of the half.

In the second half it was all Llanfair, Lewis (pen), Ellis Jones and man of the match Sion Devereux completing a 5-1 success for Andrew Croston’s third-place side.

Geraint Jones’ hat-trick guided Llansannan to a 3-0 beating of Rhos United, while Meliden got past Y Glannau 3-1, Tom Fletcher, Scott Stewart and Jordan Owen with the home goals.

In Division One, bottom side Rhyl All Stars claimed just their second win of the campaign, beating travelling side Machno United 4-2.

Ricki Roberts, Simon Roberts and Adam Cassidy (2) clinched the points for Robert Cunnah’s men, Dion Lloyd with both for Machno.

Luke Snape’s first-half double ensured Betws-y-Coed saw off Llanfairfechan Town Reserves 2-0, Joel Rowlands (3), Ash Andrews, Morgan Jones and Arron Williams inspired Denbigh Development to an excellent 6-1 derby triumph at Henllan, Ed Toms replying, while Penrhyn Bay Dragons v Llysfaen was off due to no referee being available.

In the REM Jones Cup second round, NFA battled their way to a 6-5 win against Llandudno Amateurs Reserves after extra time.

Five-goal hero Jordan Taylor and Daniel Williams made sure the Rhyl side visit Llysfaen in the semis. Steve Collins (3), James Kane and Todd Davies pushed the Amateurs close in an 11-goal stormer.
